Privacy policy
Last updated:
dangercat.party is a small collection of cat games. This policy explains what the games store, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website and the games on it β including CatMerge (catmerge.dangercat.party and the CatMerge apps for iOS and Android).
The short version
There are no ads, no advertising identifiers, no analytics and no trackers. Nothing about you is sold or shared with data brokers. A game creates an anonymous account so your scores have somewhere to live, and that account holds a cat name, your scores, and an email address only if you choose to give one.
What we store
An anonymous account, created the first time you open a game. You don't sign up and you don't give us anything to do it. It is identified by a random value with no connection to you, your device or any other service. On the web it is kept in a cookie that scripts cannot read; in the mobile apps it is kept in the operating system's secure storage.
- A cat name β generated for you (like Fluffy_Whiskers_4821), and replaceable with one of your own. Your name is shown publicly on the leaderboard, so please don't put anything personal in it. Chosen names are filtered automatically to keep the leaderboard suitable for children.
- Your profile cat β the face and aura you picked.
- Your games β for each finished run: the score, the game mode, how many merges, the biggest cat you built, and when it was. These are what the leaderboard is made of.
An email address β only if you give one
You can optionally enter an email so you can pick your account up on another device. If you do, we store the address and send you one confirmation link. We send nothing else to it β no newsletters, no marketing, ever. If you never enter an email, we never have one.
What we do not store
- No advertising ID and no device fingerprint.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
- No analytics events, no crash-reporting SDK, no third-party tracking of any kind.
- Settings you change β sound, theme, and the score list kept on your own device β stay on your device and are never sent anywhere.
Who else is involved
That is the complete list. There is no advertising network, no analytics provider and no data broker.
- Our own server, which we run, hosts the games and their database. It is not shared with anyone else.
- Cloudflare serves the traffic in front of our server (it is the network between your browser and us, and it tells us which country you are connecting from so the site can pick Spanish or English).
- Resend sends the single account-confirmation email, and only if you asked for one by entering your address. They process it on our behalf to deliver it.
Children
dangercat.party is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The optional email field is the only place a game can receive a personal detail, and it is never required to play. Names are filtered so the shared leaderboard stays suitable for children.
If you believe a child has given us an email address, write to the address below and we will delete that account.
Your choices
Depending on where you live you may also have the right to ask for a copy of what we hold, or to have it corrected. Write to the address below.
- Play without giving anything β you never have to enter an email, and the whole game works without one.
- Change your name at any time from the account panel.
- Delete your account and everything in it β in CatMerge you can do this yourself, in the app or on the web, from the account panel (see βDelete your account and dataβ). You can also email us and we will do it for you.
- Start over on the web by clearing site data for the game's address, which discards the account on that device.
- Start over in an app by deleting and reinstalling it.
How long we keep it
Accounts and scores are kept while the leaderboard exists, because a leaderboard with holes in it isn't one. Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Account deletion removes the account, its scores and its email address β see βDelete your account and dataβ for the details of what is removed and when.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. Session tokens are stored on our server only as a hash, so a copy of the database does not give anyone a way to sign in as you β and the same is true of the tokens we email you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the current version is always at this address.
